Hey I'm Matthew Moskovciak from CNET and we're gonna take a look at the pioneer VS acts 1022 can. This is a midrange AV receiver and is currently selling for around 300 dollars. -- design always includes a distinctive gold and black color scheme and this model is no different. -- -- glossy black section and sent -- an overall I think it's a little flashier than some other receivers but whether that's good or bad is really a matter of taste. -- include -- remote isn't that great as it's packed with tiny buttons most of which you'll never use. Around back is the pioneers connectivity and has six HDMI inputs on the back panel which should cover most home theaters. The rest of the connectivity is pretty skimpy now with only two digital audio inputs and no second -- audio functionality at all. There is an ethernet port and Mac gives you access to pioneers networking functionalities including. Built -- airplay Smartphone control and media streaming via pandora deal my name and Internet radio. Although surprisingly you can't actually update the pioneers firmware via an ethernet connection. Which pretty much every other network AV receiver and it. The user interface for streaming services and set up menu is pretty basic with mostly just plain white tax. While there are some color menus for streaming music services. It doesn't look that great on every TV in fact the TV in our lab had a flickering effect on the screen which was pretty rough to look at. We had our resident ankle in -- Steve Guttenberg listen to the pioneer and he was mostly unimpressed. The automatic speaker calibration set the subwoofer level way too high and even after making some manual tweaks the sound was a little bland with movies. And it didn't fare much better with CDC there. We've liked the sound of pioneer receivers in the past but this model -- disappointing. So overall the pioneer is only a middling AV receiver for the money although there are occasionally discounts to bring the price under 300 dollars. If you can get it for that cheap it's worth checking -- although onkyo TX -- 414. Is a pretty good option that price as well. The Pioneer VSX-1018AH's solid sound and generous feature package make it a great value in the midrange AV receiver class.
Although the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T5 features improvements over its T7 sibling, as well as much better value, its image quality still doesn't match the camera's other attributes.

Pioneer VSX-1022-K Review
The good: The Pioneer VSX-1022K features six HDMI inputs and built-in AirPlay. The AV receiver has built-in networking, with support for Pandora, DLNA, and Internet radio, plus you can control it from your smartphone. Discounts can bring the price down significantly.
The bad: The VSX-1022-K has some puzzling omissions, such as the lack of second-zone audio functionality and limited streaming-audio support. It can't update its firmware over its network connection, plus its Wi-Fi dongle costs $150. The user interface can at times look quite rough. Pioneer only offers a one-year warranty, rather than the standard two years offered by others. And sound quality was disappointing in our listening tests.
The bottom line: The Pioneer VSX-1022-K's combination of six HDMI inputs and AirPlay looks good from afar, but this AV receiver is only worth considering if you can find it heavily discounted.
