>> Brian Tong with CNET.com here at CES 2009. We have a First Look at Pioneer's family of HD audio video receivers. This is the VSX-1019. It's the top of the line in their family and here's some of the cool features about it. Obviously, it's gonna support 7.1 channel surround sound. It also has 4 HDMI inputs. Another unique feature here is you can plug in your iPod or your iPhone directly into the receiver over USB. And then if you look in this TV behind me, it has its own audio interface to take care of that. Like you'd expect from Pioneer it will support all HD audio codecs. Now this receiver will be 499 available sometime in April of 2009. So there you have it, a look at Pioneer's VSX-1019 HD AV receiver -- it's hot! ^M00:00:45 [ Music ]

The good: Outstanding sound quality for the price; four HDMI inputs; can connect an iPod/iPhone directly to its USB port and browse music using onscreen graphical user interface; analog video upconversion to 1080p, with acceptable image quality; onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding; Sirius-ready; automatic speaker calibration.
The bad: Advanced controls can be difficult to setup; confusing manual.
The bottom line: The Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K delivers an excellent feature set and outstanding sound quality for its price, making it our top midrange AV receiver pick so far.
