>> Hi, I'm Matt Moskovciak, Assistant Editor at CNET.com and we're taking a look at the Pioneer BDP HD1 Blue Ray player. This is a very expensive Blue Ray player from Pioneer, but it does have a couple of unique features that differentiate it from other Blue Ray players. It has a pretty average design. One thing we did like was this flip down panel here and you can see that there are a lot of controls under the flip down panel which is nice because you still have the ability to use them but they don't clutter up the front panel of the actual player. You could dim the lights on the front panel. Around back, we could take a look at some of the connectivity. There's a HDMI port, an Ethernet port and the Ethernet port is one of the more unique features because it allows the Pioneer to act as a home networking player. So you can play hi def WMV files and MP3 players on the player over that Ethernet port. Also the main feature obviously is it's ability to play Blue Ray disks. It can also play DVD's, but a major omission is that it can't play standard audio CD's. So you're gonna need another player in your home theater to listen to your music collection. In terms of the performance, we found this Blue Ray playback was excellent, which means that basically it's the same as every other Blue Ray player we've tested. We've found pretty much no differences in performance between any of them. For it's DVD up conversion ability, we say that it's a little bit step below some of the other players that we've, that we've looked at. In all, there's not really that much, the Pioneer is a pretty good player overall, but we didn't feel that it justified the extremely high price tag that it carries.
