>> Hey, I'm Donald Bell, Senior Editor for Digital Audio and MP3 and today we're taking a First Look at the Philips GoGear SA5200 Series with Bluetooth. The SA5200 is one of the best executed MP3 players we've seen from Philips. It has a nice feel, a large 2.8-inch screen and a polish-using interface that includes thumbnail graphics in the main menu similar to the iPod Nano and iPod Classic. Offered in 4GB and 8GB capacities, price centered on the $130 and $170. The GoGear SA5200 Series is a good value that packs in music, photo and video support, as well as an FM radio, voice recorder and premium features, such as wireless Bluetooth audio and Rhapsody subscription music DNA. Setting up the SA5200 to work with Bluetooth headphones is about as easy as it gets. And although no Bluetooth headphones come bundled with the player, you do get an above-average set of earbuds. We were happy to see that the Bluetooth feature can be used to stream audio from both the music and video player. It can also be used to transfer songs wirelessly to other Bluetooth compatible devices. Another cool feature on the SA5200 series is that users who sync the player with the Rhapsody Go subscription music account get treated to an extra main menu selection for the Rhapsody channel content. All in all the Philips GoGear SA5200 Series offers plenty of desirable features at a nice price. However, other players such as the higher Ibiza Rhapsody and the Samsung T10 include Bluetooth and Rhapsody features in a better overall product. And if you can live without Bluetooth and Rhapsody DNA, player with the Creative Zen offers many of the same features with better sound quality and a cheaper price. I'm Donald Bell and that was a First Look at the Philips GoGear SA5200 Series with Bluetooth. ^M00:01:43 [ Music ]

Philips GoGear SA5245 w/ Bluetooth (4GB) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Philips GoGear SA5245BT MP3 player includes music, video, and photo playback, FM radio, voice recording, Rhapsody subscription music support, above-average earbuds, and wireless stereo Bluetooth audio.

The bad: The Philips GoGear SA5245BT isn't flashy or slim, and it's not the most affordable player in town. Videos require conversion before syncing, and audio enhancement features are few.

The bottom line: If you're looking for a Bluetooth-compatible MP3 player or you want to make the most of your Rhapsody music subscription, the Philips GoGear SA5245BT offers a well-rounded set of features at an attractive price.
