Philips Fidelio AirPlay speakers Video
Philips Fidelio AirPlay speakers Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Scott Stein, senior editor at CNET.com. Now, with iOS devices incorporating AirPlay, we've seen speakers using that technology to wirelessly transmit sound and video, but we're gonna see a lot more speakers and docks using it over the holiday season, including some ones with pretty impressive audio profiles. Philips is gonna be introducing their flagship product, the Fidelio SoundSphere, coming out this holiday for $800 so that's on the pricey side, but these speakers are large, they have rich sound, and they have a very unique design with this bulbous shape beneath and a floating tweeter above. And the sound does sound pretty fantastic for a living room experience, and it has a dock or will work over AirPlay to transmit audio. There are also a variety of other products that they're launching in the Fidelio line for those who can't stomach $800, including a smaller version of those speakers at $500, and a variety of other differently shaped and function AirPlay docks. It's gonna be part of what's sure to be a fascinating landscape for AirPlay audio over the holiday season, but this Philips SoundSphere does seem like one of the more interesting ones that we've seen. The Fidelio SoundSphere also comes with a charging dock, but this doesn't transmit sound. You're gonna only rely on AirPlay for that. However, it's nice to have the charging ability. I'm Scott Stein and that's a First Look at the Philips Fidelio SoundSphere Docking Speakers.
