>> Hey, I'm Donald Bell, senior editor for digital audio and MP3. And today we're taking a first look at the Phillips AZ1330D iPod ready boom box. It has a lot of features. It has an AM FM radio, an iPod dock, CD player. The CD player can even do MP3 CDs or WMA CDs. So there's a lot you can do in just this one box. The drawbacks to it are that it's pretty heavy. The handle on it is sturdy, but it, it's got an edge to it so it's not the most portable system that we've heard. And also the sound quality is not that great. One of the things we really liked about the Phillips boom box is that when you put an MP3 CD, or WMA CD in the tray and load it up, it will display the album and track titles on the screen up top here behind the iPod dock. The AZ1330B runs about a hundred and ten dollars. It can be powered either off of a set of six D cell batteries or by plugging it into a wall. But one of the things we weren't so thrilled about is that the included remote control, even though there's a lot of features on the remote control, the range on the remote control is not so great. It's around fifteen feet, ten or fifteen feet. May be okay if you're gonna be in front of it in the living room, but if you're planning on controlling the boom box from across the other side of a room, the remote control's not gonna be good enough for you. All in all the Phillips AZ1330D boom box is an okay solution for someone who wants something in a kitchen or maybe a living room. That's gonna do a lot of different things. But if you're looking specifically for an iPod portable speaker system, you can do a lot better for the same money and get better sound quality. Boom Boom Satellites: "Moment I Count"

Boom Boom Satellites first surfaced in Europe in 1997. They've taken Japan by storm many times, and have toured with Moby, Underworld, and remixed artists such as Garbage and Josh Wink. Philosophically pursuing the spiritual world, while at the same time having an energy that is physical and untamed, Boom Boom Satellites' sound is a blend between the roughness of rock and meticulously calculated programming. "FULL OF ELEVATING PLEASURES," their first US release in almost 7 years, is a gospel rock 'n roll album that moves beyond the traditional boundaries of electronic music. The throbbing 12-song track list includes "Dive for you," the theme song for the much talked about anime feature film "APPLESEED." It's an album that suggests the unveiling of a new chapter in the history of Boom Boom Satellites.

The bad: The Philips AZ1330D has lackluster sound quality, a remote with limited range, and a bulky design.
