>>Hey, I'm Donald Bell for CNET.com. I'm here to show off a few tricks for making Apple's wonder tablet feel a little more personal. Like any computer, the Apple iPad is a little vanilla right out of the box. You can use iTunes to move over your music, movies, photos, apps and other fun stuff, but you can also dig a little deeper into the info tab where you can sync your contacts, mail, calendars, and import your browser bookmarks. The Apps tab gives you the quickest way to rearrange your apps in an order that makes the most sense to you. You can also rearrange your icons on the device by pressing and holding an app until you see the icon start to wiggle around. When you're done, hit the Home button, remember, these dock icons are up for grabs, too. And the advantage to apps in the dock is that they're always at your fingertips no matter what page you're on. You can also personalize the main menu by adding your own background image. Just jump into your photo collection and open an image you want to use and click the button in the upper right corner. You'll see three options: one for adding the image to your home screen, one for your lock screen and one option for both. While running the lock screen, you may have noticed this little flower icon on the bottom right corner. Pressing it will launch the iPad into a photo frame mode and play a slideshow of images. By default, it's going to play all the images in your collection. To narrow it down, go into Settings and select Picture Frame from the left menu. You'll see options for transition affects and a checklist for what photo albums the slideshow will pull from. Another app on the iPad that begs for some personalization is the Safari web browser. Depending on what web browser you use on your home computer, you maybe able to sync you bookmarks over to the iPad through iTunes. If you can't, or you just want to start fresh, there are a few things to know about how bookmarks work on the iPad. A list of your Safari bookmarks will appear when you hit this book icon on the top of the browser. By default, you probably have a few from Apple which you can delete by hitting the Edit button and selecting the offending bookmark. To add a bookmark, Safari offers three options: you can add it to the list, add it to the home screen or add it to the new bookmark's bar. The home screen option will create an icon for the bookmark that you can click like a shortcut. The bar option places the bookmark right at the top of the browser which pops out whenever you click on the URL or the search window. So there you go, a few tips on making the Apple iPad feel a little more personal. For CNET.com, I'm Donald Bell. ^M00:02:35 [ Music ] ^M00:02:41
