>> Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET Reviews, and this is the 12-megapixel Pentax Optio P70. It's the lightest of Pentax's Optio cameras, weighing only 4.4 ounces and still packing a wide-angle, 27.5-millimeter lens with a 4X optical zoom. On back is a nice 2.7-inch LCD and a set of easy-to-master controls. The only downside to the otherwise excellent design is the lack of a comfortable place to put your thumb when shooting one-handed. If you've gotten used to taking pictures with your cell phone, you'll probably appreciate the P70's vertical snap mode, which allows you to use the Okay button as a shutter release and the directional pad to control the zoom and exposure compensation. The P70 is, unfortunately, fairly slow though, especially shot-to-shot, which takes about four seconds, and that's with or without the flash. It's photo quality's pretty good, but generally only under good lighting. The dimmer the lighting, the more noisy the photos got. All in all, though, if you're looking at trading your cell phone's camera for something better, but still very compact, it's a model worth considering. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's the Pentax Optio P70. ^M00:01:15 [ Music ]

Pentax Optio P70 (silver) Review
The good: Great-looking design; easy operation; fun features.
The bad: Photo quality dips above ISO 200; slow performance.
The bottom line: Pentax nailed the design and features for the oh-so-small Optio P70, but there's room for improvement with its performance and photo quality above ISO 200.
