>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Pantech DMP205. This is a new phone for Disney Mobile service. Regarding design this phone overall we were a little bit divided. While some people might be attracted to the thin profile, the phone is rather plain, just kind of a plain silver front with black, almost square shaped. Not really a lot to say, not very stylish. Although again, some people might like the trim profile. We have an external display in the front, it is bright and colorful. A little small for the phone size, but it does show photo caller ID, and it does work as a viewfinder for the camera, which is right back here. Camera also comes with a flash, have an external antenna, it's a little stubby. Here on this side we have a dedicated camera shutter and a volume rocker. Inside you can see we have an internal display, pretty bright and colorful, two hundred and sixty thousand colors, so we do pretty well with those displays usually. Being a Disney Mobile phone it does show the animated menus, and all sorts of Disney Mobile content, like wallpapers, ring tones, very specific things. So this is a phone really targeted toward families, it can be used by both the kids and the parents. Kids will like the high end features, parents can use the high end features, but then parents can also control how the features are used, like picture messaging, things that can cost a lot of money if used frequently. Keypad buttons, they are flat with the surface of this phone so they're a little bit hard to press. I did like that they were spaced far enough apart though, it's just that the back lighting is rather dim. If you're a special fan of the Disney parks, you can actually get a ring tone based on certain rides like the Haunted Mansion or the Pirates of the Caribbean. ^M00:01:21 [ music ] ^M00:01:25 As I said, it does have a VGA camera, Bluetooth, speakerphone, and voice dialing. Pantech DM-P205 (Disney Mobile) Review
The good: The Pantech DM-P205 offers a unique and compelling family-centric feature set and decent call quality.
The bad: The Pantech DM-P205 has an uninspiring design and poor photo quality. Its phone book is small and the rated battery life is low.
The bottom line: The Pantech DM-P205 isn't a bad phone overall, but it's not the best phone in Disney Mobile's lineup.
