Panasonic TH-58PZ700U Video Transcript
>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, Senior editor from CNET.com and I'm with the Panasonic TH-58PZ700U. This is a 58-inch flat panel plasma TV, one of the largest on the market. Of course Panasonic does make a larger one, but this 58 is pretty darn big. This TV is also a 1080p television, which means it has enough pixels to display every line of resolution from the highest resolution HDTV sources. The set is right now running something called gallery player, which consisted of a little SD card that we put in the front here to change up the background a little bit. This TV is pretty sleek styling-wise. Around the edge you'll find glossy black, a relatively thick frame. To either side there's this very thin almost invisible speakers and below of course you have your standard array of jacks in a little flip-down door area and there's also the SD card slot down there. Of course the TV also comes with this very large stand, so you can stand it up without having to wall-mount. Around back, you'll find a pretty good selection of inputs. We're disappointed though to find only two HDMI. A lot of new TV's have more than that. There's also a PC input and a pair of component video inputs. Picture adjustments again on the light side, you can choose from different color-temperature presets, but you can't go in and adjust them according to getting the detail down, although you can go ahead and change a lot of the picture presets, so you can get a lot of different settings for different light levels in the rooms. Speaking of light levels this set also does include a kind of anti-reflective coating on the screen. It's actually not quite as effective as a lot of Panasonic anti-glare coating we've seen, but it does cut down on room reflections a little bit. Overall the picture quality in this 58-inch plasma is among the best we've seen in large screen flat panel TV that delivers a very nice deep black level, clean pictures especially in dark areas. The color accuracy was also extremely good almost as good as if we would have adjusted it ourselves. We could complain about the primary color green being a little yellow but that's about it on this television. That's a Quick Look at Panasonic's TH-58PZ700U and I'm David Katzmaier.
