>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, Senior Editor at CNET.com and I'm with the Panasonic TH-50PX77U. This is a 50 inch, flat panel plasma TV. Panasonic is a leader in plasma. So this year they decided to come out with a model that has an antiglare coating on the screen. That's really the main selling point of this television. In terms of other features, this is a fairly standard plasma TV. Around back you'll find two HGMI inputs, two component video inputs and no computer input on this television, they save that for the step up model. You'll notice that there are speakers on the side of the set as opposed to on the bottom here, which adds a little bit of width to the profile but not really too much because Panasonic incorporates its very thin speakers here. The strips along the side of the TV are only about an inch wide. So it's really not too much wider than a lot of the other TV's out there. I really like the styling overall. It's a nice flat black color. There's gloss around the edge of the screen here and below there's a chrome sort of bowed up accent and, of course, the stand is included with the TV, a black stand there. In terms of other features there's plenty of picture adjustments on this set. You can go into the menu and play with the color, temperature controls. There's also a side panel that opens up to reveal S video, composite video and an SD card slot. In terms of picture quality we were very impressed by the performance of this television. It delivers some of the deepest black levels we've seen on any display plasma, LCD or otherwise. Also has a very nice accurate color straight out of the box so when you turn it on and set it to the cinema mode you're pretty close to exactly where you want to be for picture quality. The flip side, we did notice a little bit of false contouring, which appears as visible lines and gradations from light to shadow and a little bit more video noise than we'd like to see. But overall this is still one of the better performing TV's we've tested recently. That's a quick look at the Panasonic TH-50PX77U and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:01:54 [ Music ]

Panasonic TH-50PX77U Review
The good: Antiglare screen reduces reflections; produces deep blacks with excellent shadow detail; accurate initial color temperature; slick styling.
The bad: Some false contouring; inaccurate primary color of green; no PC input; no user-menu fine color-temperature adjustments.
The bottom line: Deep black levels and a new antiglare screen make the 50-inch TH-50PX77U one of the top choices among plasma HDTVs.
