>> Hi I'm David Katzmaier, senior editor from CNET.com. And I'm sitting next to Panasonic's TH42PZ700U. This TV's pretty special, because it's the first forty two inch plasma TV with 1080P resolution. That means that on this screen there's 1920x1080 pixels, really tiny pixels because of the small screen size. Of course that allows the TV to display every single detail of 1080i and 1080P sources. So it's really the highest resolution plasma you can buy today at forty two inches. When we took the Panasonic into the lab we were very impressed by its picture quality, as we expected from a high end TV. Black levels were nice and deep, and the color accuracy was very good, except for a little bit of yellow tinge to the green. But aside from that, very good picture quality. Of course for a 1080P TV it does display excellent detail, but to see all that detail you're gonna sit very close to the screen, about four and a half feet or closer. Other aspects of the TV, the styling is really nice, it's got of course this classic glossy finish along the edge here. The speakers are to the side, they're actually really thin speakers to the side here, you really can't even tell that they're speakers. Of course the stand here is included. Around back you'll find a good selection of inputs. We were actually a little bit disappointed to find only two HDMI inputs as opposed to three, but there is a PC input as well as a pair of component video inputs. Panasonic does throw in a good selection of picture controls, you can actually modify the picture for different sources, and it'll automatically switch to a custom input. You can also modify any of the three picture modes that you want. We were a little bit disappointed that there wasn't any sort of color temperature control for fine tuning the color temperature. But aside from that there's a good range of features and picture controls. [ background music ] That's a quick look at the Panasonic TH42PZ700U, and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:01:44 [ music ]
