>> Hi, I'm Lori Grunin, Senior Editor with CNET.com and this is the Panasonic SGR S150. It's Panasonic's 3CCD standard definition model which records two SD cards. So far, sounds like a dream. It's very well designed. It has rubberized top and front. There's a little nub so you know where to grip the camera, you don't have to sort of grope around. Also your thumb falls naturally on the controls where it needs to, both the zoom switch and the navigation and menu. Only problem is your index finger which doesn't quite know where to go and occasionally could end up blocking the lens a little bit. It's very easy to use, in part because there's not a lot to control. Everything you control via the screen. It has some manual features including the ability to change the shutter speed. You can also control the exposure, but this camcorder controls it in decibels. It does also tell you how that will affect you aperture, which gives you a sense of what your exposure is but still kind of odd. So what's not to like? The video unfortunately. Both the video and the stills this camera shoots are pretty mediocre. The video has serious interlace artifacts which looks like somebody's taken a rake to it. The 3CCD's to contribute to very good color, but the focus isn't quite there and so it's never quite sharp. The stills have serious processing artifacts. You can see it in the images. It's too bad because I really wanted this to be a great camcorder. I'm Lori Grunin and this is the Panasonic SGR S150.

Panasonic SDR-S150 Review

The good: Very compact for a 3CCD model; optical image stabilizer.

The bad: Mediocre video and barely usable stills; poor battery life; slow focus.

The bottom line: While compact and convenient, Panasonic's SD-based SDR-S150 camcorder doesn't make the quality cut.
