>> Josh: Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET Reviews and this is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 it's a 14.7 megapixel digital camera that gives you a little more control over exposure than the typical compact offers. The FX150 features a wide-angle 28 millimeter lens with a 3.6 Xzoom, 2.7 inch LCD on back, and reasonably simple controls. There's Panasonic's auto everything mode called Intelligent Auto and a scene mode with 22 scene options for easy snapshots. While there's also a program AE and manual exposure modes offering more control over settings. Rounding things out is a movie mode capable of capturing video up to an HD resolution of 720p. Though it has a manual mode it doesn't have full manual controls there's no manual focus, aperture settings are limited to 2 steps and exposure composition doesn't function in this mode, however, the inclusion of the controls it does have such as being able to change shutter speeds in small increments does allow you some creative freedom that lower-end ultra compacts don't. Also there are plenty of other ways to experiment with the FX150 thanks to an extensive list of shooting options. While I'm still on the fence on the value of a 14 megapixel resolution in a camera this small the FX150 at least takes decent photos especially at ISO100. Also the FX150 isn't a very fast performer taking about 2 1/2 seconds from shot to shot but it is faster than other high resolution ultra compacts we've tested. I'm Josh Goldman and that's the Panasonic Lumix DMC FX150. ^E00:01:46

Though it's not perfect, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5's compact midrange megazoom feature set puts it in a class with just its sibling, the TZ4, and should deliver a satisfying shooting experience.
A nice all-around camera with a lens range and feature set that should please anyone on your list, and at a reasonable gift price, it's our top gift pick in the cameras and camcorders category.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 (silver) Review
The good: Great mix of manual, auto features; raw, raw+JPEG capture; 28mm wide-angle lens; easy to operate; 720p HD movie capture; unassuming good looks.
The bad: No optical zoom in Movie mode; noise reduction noticeable at ISO 200; limited manual functions.
The bottom line: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 is an excellent blend of usability, features, and photo quality.
