>> Jeff: Hey what's going on everyone, I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com today we're checking out the Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK DVD slash VHS recorder. Now the EZ48VK is among a practically extinct breed of devices that can record to VHS and DVD disks it's also got a built-in tuner, which is a plus, making it an excellent all-purpose DVD/VHS recorder. Now keep in mind this model is actually very similar to the EZ20AK it just adds the inclusion of a VHS player and a rear HDMI port. Now besides the great range of functionality the EZ48VK offers you can also playback media files via the front USB port or SD card slot. MP3, JPEG and DivX compatibility also sweeten the overall deal you get with the unit. The DVD player will also upscale your movies to 1080p via the HDMI app and the various recording quality settings allow you to customize the amount of content you'd like to burn. We really like the auto mode which will actually calculate what quality the device should burn given the amount of programming and space you have left on your blank DVD. Overall the EZ48VK should be the only VHS/DVD recorder you'll need and it's priced online for as low as $270.00. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK DVD and VHS recorder. ^E00:01:43
