>> Hi, I'm Matthew Moskovciak associate editor at CNET and this is the Panasonic DMP BD10A. Now, there's not really anything different. The units are essentially the same in terms of hardware. But, this does have a new low price and it comes with five free movies bundled inside. Starting off with the design, this is actually our least favorite part of the product. The problem is that there's this door that you have to flip down to get to the actual disk tray. And while you could always leave it down then you'd have to be stuck at looking at this instead of the much nicer look when the tray is up. Now, the other problem that we had is the remote. The same problem is that to access many of the functions you have to flip up a door. The other problem we had with the remote is that the directional pad is also a scroll wheel. Now, luckily this can be disabled but otherwise its way too easy to start scanning through a movie instead of just navigating a menu. In terms of features it supports both Doby True HD and DTS HD high resolution decoding. And take note that this is the only stand alone Blu Ray player that we've seen that has 7.1 outs. The other nice thing is that while it does play Blu Ray movies it also plays DVD audio disks, which is a nice bonus for audio files. In terms of Blu Ray performance we were very impressed. It's about equal to all other players but is much better than DVD. Now, for regular DVDs it also does a very good job with up scaling your standard def DVDs for high def DVDs. Overall, it's much better than a predecessor with a low price. But, it's still gonna be a little too expensive for the average consumer. But, for enthusiasts that are ready to go into Blu Ray and definitely want a stand alone player this is a pretty good unit.
