>> Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha senior associate editor at CNET.com and today we're taking a first look at the Palm Trio seven 755P. This is available through Sprint and it's actually replacing the 700P, which is right here. As you can see, it has the new slimmer profile it's not that much slimmer, but its available in midnight blue and this beautiful burgundy. I'm actually quite a fan of this color. It's more muted than the crimson one that's available on this Trio 680. Some new enhancement to this trio is it comes with an IM client now. You can actually sign onto AOL, Yahoo, as well as Windows Messenger. It also comes with Google maps installed on the ram so you can get text space driving directions as well as search for businesses, has integrated Bluetooth so you can connect to a GPS receiver, doesn't support a 2DP for Bluetooth stereo headsets though. It is EVDO capable so you get three G speeds for a web browsing. And also, it doesn't have integrated WiFi, but the EVDO makes that okay. Call quality was excellent as well. It's available through Sprint and it's about two 280 dollars with a two year contract at launch after rebate as well. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been the Palm Trio 655P. ^M00:01:14 [ Music ]

Palm Treo 755p - burgundy (Sprint) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Palm Treo 755p sports a more compact design than the 700p and is available in two attractive colors. The Palm smart phone has integrated Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and EV-DO support, and it adds an instant-messaging app, Google Maps for Mobile, and direct push technology. It's a good performer too.

The bad: The 755p is a bit pricey and feels bulky and heavy compared to other full QWERTY devices. The device still lacks integrated Wi-Fi, and the camera's picture quality was subpar.

The bottom line: Though it's not a major overhaul of the smart phone, the Palm Treo 755p offers a nice collection of enhancements and solid performance to make it an attractive upgrade.
