>> Bonnie Cha: Hi I'm Bonnie Cha Senior editor at CNET.com and today we're bringing you a first look of the Palm Pixie. This is a second web OS device from Palm and it is the thinnest one to date. It's about 10% thinner than the iPhone 3GS and 20% thinner than any Blackberry out there so very, very nice and sleek. On front here you've got a capacity of multi-touch screen and below this area you've got a gesture area just like the Pre but it doesn't have that little knob right there. Got a full QWERTY keyboard, it's pretty easy to use I actually think I like it better than the Pre's. As usual you get the Palm web OS and some of the great features like the deck of cards. Synergy now includes integration with linked in contacts as well as Yahoo contacts, calendar and IM which is great. Other new features include a dedicated Facebook app which I know many of you will be happy about and there will be more apps coming to the catalogue including iLike which will show you some concerts in your area and like post them to your calendar so that's great. Really good system again just like the Pre as far as integration. Other features include Bluetooth and GPS, support for Sprint's EVDO Rev A network as well as a 2 megapixel camera, 3.5 mm headphone jack which we love and you will also be able to get different back covers designed by various artists and they will be debuting that at the New York fashion show coming up. >> This will be coming to Sprint for the holiday season. Pricing hasn't been announced but looks like a great device for a lot of different people so looking forward to checking it out when it is available. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been your first look at the Palm Pixie.

The 404 421: Where Palm sprinkles Pixi dust on the new Apple iPods

If you thought the Palm Pre had a lame name, then consider the company's newest fumble: the Palm Pixi. Can you imagine walking into the nearest Sprint store and asking for the latest smartphone to hit the market, only to have the clerk bring out the Pixi? Well, names aside, the phone looks pretty cool. It's basically a stripped-down, simpler version of the Pre. It replaces the sliding keyboard with a fixed QWERTY keypad. The screen is a bit smaller, but still retains the 8GB of memory and GPS.

Daily Debrief: Palm launches new OS, phone

Palm is trying to relight its fading star with a brand-new operating system, WebOS, and a new smartphone model, the Pre, launching later this year on Sprint. The combination looks compelling, and if anything can bring Palm back to the front lines in the smartphone market, it's these new products. Rafe Needleman interviews Ina Fried on the Palm lineup.

BOL 1076: You got served, through Twitter

In the UK you don't have to be in the presence of someone to serve them with legal papers. So now Twitter has become a way to get served. We also are happy that the US government is taking cybersecurity seriously but maybe they could lay off with the cyber prefix a little. And we try to care more about the Palm Pixi. We really do.

iPhone, Android, and Palm, oh my (95)

We're pretty swamped with a lot of news about Apple's iPhone, new Android phones, and the new Palm Pixi, so this is a short show for this week. Stay tuned next week with a bit more in-depth analysis and be sure to check out our live stream over at http://live.cnet.com every Wednesday at 2 p.m. Pacific.

After their unveiling last week, we've had a chance to handle the Palm Pixi and the Android Motorola Cliq.

Palm Pixi (Sprint) Review

The good: The Palm Pixi features a remarkably thin design and an improved QWERTY keyboard. An updated OS brings Yahoo integration as well as enhanced messaging features. It also offers Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support.

The bad: Lacks Wi-Fi. The smartphone can be sluggish and battery can drain quickly. The camera's picture quality is subpar and still lacks video recording and editing options.

The bottom line: While not as powerful as the Pre, the Palm Pixi offers first-time smartphone buyers a decent set of features in a sleek little package. However, to be really competitive, we think it needs to come down in price just a touch.
