>> Brian: Hey folks, Brian Cooley here in a 2010 Kia Soul Exclaim; this is a high trim Kia Soul so the head unit has built-in Bluetooth. It's time for a quick how-to on pairing your phone using the phonebook and a couple other odd quirks in this system. Let's get started. Now, to pair your phone you've got 2 ways to get there you can either press this button here Set Up, roll around to Phone with the right knob, hit that and then hit Pair but when you do that it goes into a voice mode.
>> Please say a name for the phone.
>> Brian: BlackBerry. BlackBerry
>> Say Yes to precede otherwise say Back or Cancel.
>> Brian: Yes
>> Ready for pairing please use your phone to connect to the system. The pairing pass key is 0000.
>> Brian: Now I go to the Search mode on my phone, and so in this model the phone has to go find the car, that's how most car systems work. Okay, there it is says Soul, click on that. Now we'll do our pass key exchange.
>> Pairing complete
>> Brian: Okay that was really quick but what you don't know is in the background right now when you first pair it's transferring your phonebook over. I know that because if I go to the Voice button here where I'd go to start dialing a call with voice recognition and I press it it says, "Hang on I'm downloading the phonebook." This may take a while I've got a lot of entries in mine, for example, so give it a few minutes and we'll come back when it's done. Okay, a day and a half later my contacts are all transferred. Now, here's what happens check this out, dial Brian Cooley.
>> On which number do you want to call Brian Cooley at home, at work, on mobile?
>> Brian: On mobile.
>> Calling Brian Cooley on mobile.
>> Brian: That's pretty impressive voice recognition. Notice I was able to spit out a name without spelling it and there are a lot of similar sounding names in any phonebook as large as mine and it immediately figured out there's more than one entry and asked me which one did I want based on the actual tags that they're giving in my BlackBerry. That's kind of an impressive voice recognition phone dialing system for a cheap little car. The last step, of course, you should know whenever you pair a phone it's how to get the phone out of there. You can go to Set Up very easily, roll back to Phone again with this knob.
>> Delete phone -- say a name or a number from the list or say Delete All -- one.
>> Brian: BlackBerry -- one -- BlackBerry.
>> Will be deleted. The associated phonebook will also be deleted.
>> Brian: Just that simple, so this is a very straightforward easy to use Bluetooth system with some rather advanced voice command activation of phonebook entries. That's a quick how-to on using, pairing and unpairing from the 2010 Kia Soul Bluetooth head unit. ^M00:02:59 [ Music ]
