One of the best TVs for the money Video Transcript
Hi. I'm (Tap Nebri?) from cnet.com and this a review of the Panasonic UT50 Plasma. If you're looking to buy a television in 2012. I have no hesitation in recommending a Panasonic Plasma. Based on the performance of two TV's we've seen so far this year. The ST50 and the UT50. The ST50 is a stunning TV for the money and the UT50 is almost identical and yet it's $300 cheaper. Both TV's share the crystal edge design which the little dale compared to this years metallic models but still look attractive. UT50 is essentially a cut down ST50 and features just too hasty on my port which may not suit users with a lot of electronics. The most important difference though is that the TV lacks the ST50's looser filter. This means the UT50 screen doesn't perform as well in a lit room with muddy black but turn the lights off and the picture looks stunning. Blocks are incredibly deep and more colors don't look like good on the grass, thanks to a lack of professional control. They look stunning on the screen. As this is a entry level screen, you would expect to lack some of the more modern features but no, it's still have smart TV via internet and optional wireless adapter and 3D playback if you stomp up to the glasses. If you do buy those glasses, the 3D performance is only just possible with a fair bit of eye straining juice and cross talk. In the future, when we talk about true TV bargains. I think UT50 and ST50 will crop up as bench marks. At 1400 for the 55 inch UT50. As far as I'm concerned, there's no real reason to pay that much more for high quality television. If television comes in choice and sizes too from the 4th coming 42 inch up to 60 inches. As far as I'm concerned, they all seem to be terrific buy. I'm (Tap Nebri?) and this has been the Panasonic UT50.

Panasonic TC-P42UT50 Review
The good: In pure dollar/performance terms the Panasonic TC-PUT50 series is one of the best TVs we've seen, with astounding picture quality for the money. Black levels are the equal of Panasonic's ST50 series in a darkened room, shadow detail is very good, and colors are accurate. Unlike an LCD, as a plasma TV it has superb off-angle and uniformity characteristics. Despite the low price, the UT50 is still studded with the latest features, including 3D and Smart TV.
The bad: The UT50 series doesn't perform very well in a lit room, with blacks becoming muddy and indistinct. The performance of 3D is only passable, with quite distinct ghosting effects. The TV lacks advanced setup controls, which makes tweaking a better picture almost impossible. With only three video inputs it's not suited to users with lots of gear.
The bottom line: The Panasonic TC-P50UT50 plasma TV nearly matches the world-beating picture quality of the ST50 series, at an even lower price.
