Nook Tablet joins updated e-reader family Video Transcript
-Hi, I'm Bridget Carey with CNET, and we are here at the Barnes and Noble store in New York Union Square where they just unveiled the new Nook Tablet. We just heard a lot of buzz about Amazon's Kindle Fire. So, how does the new tablet standup. Well, it says it's faster, twice as fast. They say it's a better screen as you can see for more angles and the fact that it has more memory. It has twice as much internal memory at 16 gigs, but you can also expand that with a 32 gig memory card. Now, this new tablet is really pushing that you can do HD video, but it's gonna be through streaming things like Netflix or Hulu Plus. You can actually buy a movie from the Barnes and Noble online store, but you can side load it in if you already have a movie on your computer or if you already have music on your computer or you can also stream music through upside Pandora. Another thing I thought was interesting is that those are gonna be hot silhouette families, you can audio record. You're speaking a children's book and then save it and that's the kick in here. A love one read the good to them. That's kind of neat. Now, it's gonna be $250. That's a little bit more than the Kindle Fire, which gonna be available for pre order today and available some time next week. We don't have exact date. That's gonna be available probably mid to late next week. You're gonna be able to actually touch it in stores and get in store support, which is not something you get with Amazon's Kindle Fire. There're also some updates to their other ones. Now, the Nook color, which came out a year ago just dropped their price at $200 and over the next coming weeks, you're gonna be seeing some software updates where you can now, you know, download streaming movies and through Netflix and Hulu Plus along with some other small perks. Also, giving an update is Barnes and Noble's e-Ink touch reader called simple touch and it's only dropping price to $99, but you're gonna see some upgrade to the screen readability of the words, has better battery life up to 2 months of reading. So when it comes to e-Ink reading. Both are $99 on Amazon and Barnes and Noble book. One doesn't have ads, seems a little bit sweeter on the Barnes and Noble side. For CNET, I'm Bridget Carey.
