The Nokia Purity Pro by Monster offers ultra-advanced phone audio Video Transcript

-Hi, this is Brian Bennett for cnet.com. And right now, we're taking a First Look at the Nokia Purity Pro stereo headset by Monster. At 349.99, this pair of headphones certainly cost a pretty penny, but there's a good reason for it. The Purity Pro is one serious piece of mobile hardware. It was born from a unique partnership between mobile phone maker Nokia and sound technology company Monster Cable. As a result, this premium audio accessory isn't your average set of cans. First and foremost, it links with smartphones and even laptops via a wireless Bluetooth connection. That means you can stream and enjoy music and stereo from your phone without the hassle of wires. The Purity Pro also boasts active voice cancellation technology to analyze background and dampen it for a more isolating and pleasing music listening experience. Equipped with onboard microphone too, you can use the Nokia Purity Pro to answer phone calls hands free as they come in or when you place them. But wait, the Purity Pro's bag of tricks goes even deeper. The device folds up neatly into a very compact package. When you unfold it, the headphone will automatically switch on its Bluetooth radio and connect to the last paired device in range. If no devices it recognizes are near, it kicks itself into pairing mode and provides voice prompts to aid setup. Noise canceling operates automatically too with the feature activating when you put the headset on. In other words, by placing both ears inside the ear cups. Monster says all this automation helps the device's rechargeable battery to achieve a long audio playback time of 24 hours. When juice runs out though or when traveling on airplanes, the Purity comes with a standard 3.5-mm headphone cable for a wired connection. Also on the headphones are controls of volume and on the other side are controls for track forward and backward and play, pause. Still not impressed? The Purity Pro compare in seconds with compatible smartphones using its embedded NSC chip just by tapping the 2 devices together. Now, that's pretty slick. I'm Brian Bennett for cnet.com. And this has been a First Look at the Nokia Purity Pro by Monster. Be sure to check back soon for a full review.

Nokia Purity Pro by Monster (Black) Review

The good: The Nokia Purity Pro by Monster headphones are light, compact, have long battery life, and provide well-balanced audio.

The bad: While the Nokia Purity Pro is sophisticated, it lacks a companion app and its noise canceling can’t be turned off.

The bottom line: For smartphone owners who crave both active noise canceling and Bluetooth wireless audio, the Nokia Purity Pro by Monster is worth its steep price.
