>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior editor here at CNET.com. Today, we'll take a First Look at the Nokia MD-6 Stereo Speakers. Cell phone speakers can be a great way to take your music phone and broadcast your tunes to the world. They don't have to be very expensive and they may not be the highest quality in the world, but they can really be a great accessory for a cell phone. This is really basic as far as cell phone speakers go, probably the most basic model you can get. We'll close it first, you can see that it looks like -- a lot of people compare it to a very large lipstick case. Very basic design, all black, plastic siding, but still had a pretty solid feel, just a red caps at the end. This is a wired connection, so you can see the wire sticking out here. It does wrap up, it stretches pretty far. It wraps up right here and then you can just squash that close like that and it works pretty well. The end does hang out. There's really no way to get around that, but otherwise it's a very compact shape. It does come with a carrying bag. I didn't actually see the carrying bag. Nokia didn't send it to me. There's no controls at all, there's no volume control and you kind of Power button. Power button is automatic that's when you flip open the speaker like that, the power turns on. That is a good thing in a sense that it cuts down the controls, makes it easy to use, but didn't find that the fit at either end was very solid. Open pretty easily, didn't exactly click into place. Of course when it is open and it doesn't need to be all the way open. It only needs to be a little way. That means the battery is running. So I actually had it carried in the bag for a while. It was opened and the battery ran out. So you definitely wanna be careful about. You wanna make sure it's closed all the way or you're just gonna deplete your batteries unnecessarily. Not the best design in that sense, but certainly easy to use. So once you open it up, you can set it on the table like that, take the connection, the default is at 3.5 millimeter headset jack. It does come with an adaptor for 2.5 millimeter as some of the other Nokia phones like the Nokia 5300 Xpress Music does have a smaller jack. So it's good that they do that, but I get to demonstrate it with the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music. This is a new phone for T-Mobile. So we can just plug it in right there on the top. You can press the music button on the side. ^M00:01:58 [ Music ] ^M00:02:02

>> Quality isn't as great as we've seen on other cell phone stereo speakers. Just keep in mind this is a cheaper model. It's only about $70 and these speakers are very small. Output isn't that great, but definitely works if you want a cheaper option and just something to use if you need one to take it to the park, you wanna take to the beach, any place like that. It's definitely good for what it offers and especially at the price point. I'm Kent German and this is the Nokia MD-6 Stereo Speakers. ^M00:02:25 [ Music ]

Nokia Mini-Speakers MD-6 Review

The good: The Nokia MD-6 Mini-Speakers offers an easy to use, compact design, and respectable performance.

The bad: The Nokia MD-6 Mini-Speakers suffer from static at the highest volume levels. Also, the hinge construction is rather loose.

The bottom line: The Nokia MD-6 Mini-Speakers are far from perfect, but they offer decent performance for what they are.
