>> Kent: Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor for CNET.com today we're gonna take a first look at the Nokia 7205 Intrigue; this is a new phone for Verizon Wireless Service. It's obvious that Nokia put a lot of design thought into the Intrigue and it really differs from a lot of standard Nokia phones, it doesn't have that candy bar design, it does have a vertical external display so this one is a little unique as it does take almost full advantage of the phone's front face. Also the front face is glossy and black and it attracts fingerprints and smudges by the ton, actually almost unsightly every time you touch it you leave a visible print or a smudge constantly wiping it down, you certainly want to be aware of that. Also what's interesting is the lines are so simple that you can actually see it almost has an ark here, it's almost smooth. We did also like the silver rim that surrounds this it just contrasts nicely with the black. Internal display, pretty bright and colorful, very good resolution. The navigation array is also unique; this is a cross, haven't seen that a lot it take a little getting used to though and even though it spacious it was a little slippery and it was a little hard to do it by feel. The keypad buttons, silver ridges separate them so it makes them a little bit tactile but really didn't have many problems overall. Also there's a bright back-lighting. So overall very style centric phone, very design centric, felt the design certainly had some compromises in usability. Pretty standard feature set with a megapixel camera, Bluetooth and music player, it does support EVDO so you can get Verizon's VCast, Verizon's VCast with Rhapsody which is the music system Verizon's VC Navigator for GPS so multimedia features, it does have more than you'd usually see. The good: The Nokia 7205 Intrigue has an eye-catching design, a brilliant display, and an attractive feature set. Its photo quality is admirable, as well.
The bad: The Nokia 7205 Intrigue's call quality and V Cast video quality are disappointing. Also, its style-centric design entails some compromises.
The bottom line: The Nokia 7205 Intrigue certainly looks nice, but it's not a practical multimedia phone.
