>> Hi. I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a First Look at the Nokia 6350. This is a new phone for AT&T service. This follows just on the heels of the Nokia Mural, and I do like this phone a little better, at least the design. This design is a little more attractive. I like how it feels in the hands. It does come in the red that you see here, and also a graphite, which is basically a gray. It has a soft touch material surrounding most of the backside and some of the front side as well. Otherwise, you'll see just black plastic right there. On the front, you do have a nice external display. It also works as a self-portrait viewfinder for the camera lens that's right above. There's no flash, but a two-megapixel camera. On the front, you also have dedicated music controls. Felt that the touch controls weren't quite sensitive enough, and the play button is a little too small, so as much as I like having the keys on the front, I felt these could be a little bigger. When you open the phone, it forms a smooth arc like we've seen on a lot of Nokia phones recently. The internal display is really bright and colorful. It shows the 16 million colors. The menus are easy to use, graphics and photos and colors and everything look great. Keypad buttons and controls, they are spacious, so they were pretty easy to use. These two shortcuts, the web browser and the GPS, useful, yes, but I'd really rather see a dedicated back key and maybe a dedicated speakerphone key as well. But I felt I could still dial and text quickly without any problems, and there's pretty big numbers on them as well, and they're brightly backlit. Inside, the phone has GPS set up for AT&T navigator. It has a two-megapixel camera. I mentioned the 3G, so that means they you can get AT&T video, which is streaming video. Also, you can download music through AT&T's partners. You have a personal organizer, a speakerphone, messaging, and the support for AT&T's push-to-talk service, so not a bad little feature set there. I'm Kent German. This is the Nokia 6350. ^M00:01:49 [ Music ]
The Nokia 6085 works very well as a voice phone, but its multimedia performance is somewhat lacking.
If you can afford it, the Nokia N80 delivers a powerful multimedia phone packed with advanced imaging features, PIM functionality, and good call quality.
Nokia gives the appearance of being on the ropes, thanks to pressure from Android, iPhone, Windows Phone 7, and even RIM. But the company's EVP of services doesn't seem to be in much of a rush.
The durable Motorola Tundra VA76r succeeds admirably at making calls, but its multimedia experience doesn't measure up.
The Nokia Twist 7705's bizarre design won't be for everyone, but it pulls through with decent features and good call quality. On the otherhand, it's not a practical Internet or multimedia device.
If you can afford it, the Nokia N80 delivers a powerful multimedia phone packed with advanced imaging features, PIM functionality and good call quality. CNET's Bonnie Cha takes a look.
The Nokia 6205 barely lives up to its multimedia phone promise, but it's a decent choice if you want an affordable 3G phone with good call quality. The Dark Knight Edition brings extra goodies like an etched Batman logo and a preloaded movie trailer.
The Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is a promising multimedia phone with an expansive touch screen.
The Nokia 7510 is a decent mid-range phone that offers Wi-Fi for making calls. It earns points for a unique design, but we wish the call volume were louder.
The Nokia 2680 doesn't offer the best menu interface or speakerphone, but the prepaid phone is a decent basic phone for occasional use.
Nokia 6350 - red (AT&T) Review
The good: The Nokia 6350 has a slim, easy-to-use design and good call quality. The feature set includes 3G, GPS, and push-to-talk.
The bad: The Nokia 6350's photo and video quality are disappointing. The headset jack is 2.5mm.
The bottom line: The Nokia 6350 does the job as a phone for voice calls, but it doesn't measure up as a multimedia device.
