Nikon Coolpix S710 Video Transcript
>> Josh: Hi I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET Reviews and this is the Nikon Coolpix S710. The S710 wants to be that camera you take with you while your digital SLR stays home. It offers a robust set of manual controls, a high resolution 14.5 megapixel sensor, a 28mm wide-angle lens and a sensitivity that goes up to ISO 3200 at full resolution and ISO 12,800 at 3 megapixels. However, it lacks the speed digital SLR users and even many snap shooters are used to. If you're used to shooting fast the S710's performance comes up short otherwise it's a respectable high-end point and shoot camera. In order to fit the 3 inch LCD on the back Nikon kept controls in the space between them to a minimum. The buttons are raised enough to make them easy to press though and there's a directional scroll wheel that acts in conjunction with a virtual mode dial called up when you press the actual mode button. The S710 offers program, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual modes. The Nikon Coolpix S710 does take some nice photos, sharpness in detail were particularly good at ISO 100 but as the ISO numbers go up so does the amount of softness in noise. Also while none of the 14 megapixel cameras we've tested have been particularly fast performers the S710 was noticeably sluggish taking 4 seconds to recover between shots. I'm Josh Goldman and that's the Nikon Coolpix S710. ^E00:01:40

Nikon Coolpix S710 (black) Review
The good: Nice photos; wide-angle lens; attractive design; plenty of shooting options.
The bad: Very slow performance; menu systems, navigation takes practice; no optical zoom in Movie mode.
The bottom line: If it wasn't so slow, the Nikon Coolpix S710 would be a very good high-end, full-featured ultracompact.
