Nikon Coolpix S200 Video Transcript

>> Hi, I'm Will Greenwald, Assistant editor at CNET.com and this is the Nikon Coolpix S200 digital camera. This 7-megapixel shooter is probably much one of the slimmest ones you're going to find. Its aluminum body is less than an inch thick and it's actually thinner than the Motorola Razr V3 cell phone, so you have some idea of just how flat this will fit in your pocket. It looks very nice. The aluminum case gives it a nice shiny not plasticky look and unfortunately, the look is pretty much all this camera has going for it. Underneath the thin metal body, there's a pretty much cookie-cutter camera. It's a 3x zoom lens with 38mm at the wide angle, which is frankly a lot more narrow than I would prefer, so you're not going to get the widest shots with this camera. It has only a 2.5-inch screen. It does have face-detecting autofocus and auto exposure. It's a pretty handy feature that we're seeing in a lot more cameras these days. Now, unfortunately, it shoots very slowly. You can expect a pretty good wait between shots especially if you turn on this camera's tiny on-board flash. This camera's 7-megapixels shots are a lot softer than they could be. It obscures a lot of fine details and you're probably going to be missing a lot of textures of fabrics, rain wood and fine texts when shooting with this camera. In all, if you want a really thin, pretty camera the S200 is a good choice, but if you don't want that shoots that any good speed and produces pretty photos, you might wanna look elsewhere. I'm Will Greenwald and this is the Nikon Coolpix S200.

Nikon Coolpix S200 Review

The good: Super-slim design; face-detecting autofocus a nice touch.

The bad: Disappointing lens; noisy, soft pictures.

The bottom line: The Nikon Coolpix S200 digital camera looks pretty and will fit almost anywhere, but it just doesn't take very good photos.
