>> Hi, this is Dong Ngo for CNETnew.com and today, we'll take the first look at the Netgear HD Gaming 5Ghz Wireless-N Networking Kit. The WNHDE111 has the same design as some Netgear's RangeMax routers and that means it's big, actually very bulky for an access point/bridge device. I haven't seen a lot of others that are about one third of the size, but nonetheless, thanks to the internal antenna design and its vertical posture. The WNHDE111 still has a small footprint. There a few things worth mentioning about this device. Since the 5Ghz spectrum is not as heavily used as the 2.4Ghz spectrum, devices working in this frequency tend to offer much better speed, range, as well as signal stability. Secondly, the WNHDE111 can be set to work as either an access point or a wireless bridge. On the back here, right above, the 2 network ports and below, the on and off button. You will find the switch that determines what mode you want the device to work in, access point or bridge. This is a good addition to your existing 2.4Ghz wireless network by making your network support both frequencies. However, it doesn't help much if there are non-wireless clients in your network that are too far away from the router and you don't want to run network cables across the room. This is when you need the second WNHDE111 working in a bridge mode. For example, we want to connect this network to our device, to this router over here and say, they are too far away. We plug one of the WNHDE111 into the router and the other one to the storage device and of course, while everything is turned on, you will have this device connected to this network. It doesn't have to be this network storage device, but this works with any wide clients, computers, TV, set-top boxes, game consoles, and so on. You can get the Netgear WNHDE111 now for about 100 dollars, 200 dollar for the kit, which is a reasonable price. My name is Dong Ngo and this has been the First Look at the Netgear HD Gaming 5Ghz Wireless-N Networking Kit.
