>> Hi, I'm Jessica Dolcourt from CNETdownloads.com and today we're taking a first look at Nero 7 Ultra, a multimedia powerhouse. Be forewarned, this baby could take 20 minutes or more to download. It's a long slough but once you get Nero going, you won't be sorry. I'm a big fan of the nice compact interface, which you can see is pretty fancy and polished. It's easy to navigate through your favorite functions using these icons on the Smart Start window or the apps menu, whichever seems faster. This people button on the bottom calls up more advanced features. If you're cosmetically oriented and not that there's anything wrong with that, there are two ways to skin Nero's interface. Take your chances with this color changer button right here. Or have a little more control by going in through the configuration menu. Of course, the default isn't too shabby either. There's a huge range of applications, which is what you're paying for. Like Nero, Back It Up to manage your data backups and recovery. And multiple options for burning and converting data and audio files. There are also plenty of set up driver tools and a manual to match each application in case you need to get a little help getting into the groove. As a nice navigational touch, the startup screen pops back any time you close an app. Nero is chalk a block full of capabilities. My favorites which include video capture, making video CDs and DVDs, and being able to set burn rights for non administrators via a separate installation. Ah the power. For the true multimedia hound, there's also Nero Home, which you can configure with your home entertainment system to record, store and play just about any type of media on your TV or computer. Nero does suck up a boatload of memory and it's got a hefty price tag. But if you've got a lot of media to manipulate and organize, it's well worth it. This is Jessica Dolcourt for CNETdownloads.com and we've been looking at Nero 7 Ultra. ^M00:01:50 [ Music ]
