>> Tom Merritt: Hey I'm Tom Merritt at CES 2010 taking a look at the Neato XV11, it's a robotic vacuum cleaner. Remember when those things like they're living in the future. We've got a bunch of them now and this is a new innovation, different company, not the rumba folks, Neato makes this one and it uses a different way to map your room. The Roomba kind of runs around bumps into things makes a map as a trial and error finds its way around. This actually scans your room so it looks for all of the obstacles in the room, makes a map, they call it RPS, kind of cute, room positioning system and then it will move around the room without running into things. If it does run into things it does have a bumper on the front so it can learn as it goes but it's supposed to be a little bit more efficient, a little faster at being able to get around the room and get things sucked up inside and that's the other key, it actually is a vacuum, it pulls 3 amperes so this is going to be an actual vacuum inside rather than just a brush. Does have a brush under here and instead of fringe it's solid so they say that it shouldn't get tangled up on yarn and pet hair and things like that. Now if you want to empty it you just pop the top off here, you've got your filter here, pull that out, empty it out. It's you know these things are small so it looks a little small so you may have to do a couple if you've got a lot of pets or you got a lot a Cheerios or whatever and the other cool thing is you can schedule it, it has a menuing system here so you go into the menu and you can have it on its own, run around the room on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, whenever you want to schedule it, even when you're not there it will vacuum and find its way back to the charging unit and start charging itself again. In fact if it runs out of battery power in a really big room it'll head back to the charger re-charge, remember where it left off, go back there and pick up things from there. [ Background music ]
>> Tom Merritt: They say it can run about an hour on carpet, maybe an hour and half on hardwood floors. Once again it's the Neato XV11 for $399. They're taking pre-orders now and it should be shipping in March. At CES2010 I'm Tom Merritt.
The competition leaves this robot vacuum in the dust.
A robotic vacuum you have always wanted and can now afford.
A $379 robot vac that performs on par with iRobot's $699 Roomba 880.
It looks like a Super Nintendo, but this little cleaner is a powerful pet hair picker-upper.
