>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today, we'll take a First Look at the Motorola VU204. This is a new phone for Verizon Wireless service. It has a VGA camera, it doesn't have the 3G connectivity or anything like that, so just a VGA camera, organizer features made for messaging and making calls. Just your sort of basic phone user be good for. The external display is a little small. It is full color, so it will show most of what you need. The camera lens is right up here. There is no flash or self portrait mirror. Here on the left side, there is a volume rocker and the Moto smart key, which you can use to change the phone's status from silent to general, all the things like that. And here on this side, there is a 2.5 mm headset jack. We prefer 3.5, but this is fine, especially for a phone that really it is a constraint on a music player or anything like that. Inside, the phone has a nice design. I found the internal display maybe a little bit small. I felt it could be bigger. Browsing continues to redesign its menu structure. For a long time we have a standardized menu structure, which is really difficult to use. There are things that were kind of scattered around and weren't really intuitive. Keypad buttons and controls very nice design, very sharp, really, really spacious. Tactile keys, very easy to use. I like the big circular control. This is definitely a phone that's designed for people that may be new to cell phones or don't really need a cell phone with a lot of functions. Just wants thing to make calls, wants things that's easy to use with ergonomic controls. So, I definitely recommend this phone. I'm Kent German, this is Motorola VU204. ^M00:01:22 [ Music ]
