>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at www.CNET.com. Today we're gonna take the first look at the Motorola V365. This is a new phone for Cingular service. V365 looks a lot like some previous Motorola phones, sorta like the V557, how you can see they have the same silver here, silver face surrounded by a dark border, camera lens scrunched way here up at the top. A few changes though of course and if you're very sick of thin phones, you might love this one. You can see this phone is actually very thick. It's almost a whole inch wide. Not really sure why Motorola decided to do this, definitely makes for a tight fit in pockets, but on the other hand, it does give the phone a very sturdy feel and even though it's a tad weighty, it's still comfortable to hold in the hand. So the external display is monochrome, so that does mean it won't support photo card id and it also won't work as a viewfinder for self portraits and you see there's no self portrait mirror as well. So that is a bit tricky. Still it shows all the information you need, daytime, battery life, everything like that. Here on the side you have a volume rocker, you have a push to talk button, this phone does support Cingular's push to talk service, covered headset jack. Here on this side you have, you do have a voice channeling button and down here is the mini O speed port. Inside the phone you can see you have an internal display that's a lot like other Motorola phones, not the greatest resolution but it does the job, considering the phones sort of mid-range capabilities. Moving down to the navigation keypad, they are set a little far from the screen due to this very sturdy hinge, but they are easy to use. You can see you have a 5 way toggle, 2 soft keys, dedicated menu button, talk and end power keys as well and also you have shortcuts for Cingular's internet service and the camera. Keypad buttons are well designed. They are slightly raised above the surface of the phone. They have a bright backlighting with large numbers and they're pretty easy to use. The phone also comes with a mycrest [assumed spelling] D slot, but you can't see, you actually have to remove the battery cover, it's right here on the top. Fortunately you don't have to remove the battery, so you don't have to turn the phone off, but still you've gotta take this off and we thought that on such a thick phone they definitely could have stuck it somewhere else. Other thing we weren't crazy about is the speaker is on the rear side. That does mean if you're using the speaker phone, which the volume was kinda low to begin with, probably best to face the phone on a table upside down. If you face it right side up, that means the speaker is covered, which makes it even more muffled. Overall the phone offers mid-range features, has Blue Tooth, the speaker phone, VGA camera, but not beyond that. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola V365. ^M00:02:09 [ music ]
