>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today, we'll take a First Look at the Motorola Tundra VA76r. It actually debuted at CES 2009. This is a rugged, durable phone for AT&T. It is pretty big and bulky, but of course that is what you get when you have a phone that usually as durable and rugged. It has a lot in common with Nextel phones. Of course it's made by Motorola so that's not a surprise. Has an external antenna, haven't seen one of those on GSM or AT&T phone in a long time. Also have a couple of buttons up here. I always see those in the Nextel flip phones. External display is okay, just a little small I thought for the phone's overall size. Camera lens is right up here, there's no flash. Inside you'll find a very nice internal display, it's pretty bright, it's very colorful. Graphics looks sharp and games are pretty playable. Navigation controls and keypad were very well designed. A couple of soft keys, there's a web browser shortcut, a shortcut for cellular video. Keypad buttons, it's also well designed. They have large numbers, bright backlighting, everything feels nice to the touch, so really well designed controls, very user friendly. The phone does offer 3Gs. You will find Cellular Video, which is a streaming video to find AT&T Mobile Music for music downloads through partners. Bluetooth, organizer features, assisted-GPS for AT&T navigator, so pretty nice in mid-range selection of features. Call quality on this phone was great. It does have CrystalTalk Plus. What will CrystalTalk Plus does is it screens out background noise and helps your caller understand you and it helps you understand your caller especially when you're in a noisy situation, so it's nice to see. However the multimedia quality was pretty poor actually. The photo quality I wasn't in love with. The pictures are really blown out, way too much light and streaming video quality was variable. When it was working, it was great, however with videos did pause every once in a while. So, not a real multimedia phone, but when you're talking about call quality and durability, it's -- can't do much better for AT&T. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola Tundra VA76r. ^M00:01:58 [ Music ]
