>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Motorola Sliver L7C. This is a new phone for Verizon wireless service. Yes this is another Sliver. We've already seen Sliver L7 with Cingular we've seen another Sliver L7C with Sprint, now here it is with Verizon, so the carrier's one of the last ones to get it. It does look a lot like all the other Sliver L7s, except it is a different color than the one with Sprint. It is the silver color, both the Cingular and Sprint versions were a little darker. Don't like the silver color as much, really like that darker, just had a little more appeal to it. Does have that thin profile, looks a lot like a Razr that's just been hammered flat. Has a keypad that looks a lot like the Razrs. Like most Verizon phones it does have the Verizon design mini system. Not a huge fan of that. I really think that even the Motorola system, which also isn't the greatest, is even a little better. Keypad buttons look similar as well. They are flat with the surface of the phone like all Slivers. There are tiny ridges between the individual rows which can help as far as make it a tactile feel. It is hard to dial in the dark though, and it's a little hard to text if you're not looking at the screen. Weren't in love with the micro SD slot on this phone. You do have to take the battery and the battery cover out, so it's just not very convenient if you want to get up there and switch the card out. [ background music ] Overall though, very typical for a Sliver design, has most of the same features. As any video phone you get V-Cast and V-Cast music. Also has Bluetooth, a speakerphone, email, and about what you'd expect. I'm Kent German, and this is the Motorola Sliver L7C. ^M00:01:17 [ music ]

Motorola Slvr L7c (Verizon Wireless) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Motorola Slvr L7c for Verizon offers a sleek design, EV-DO support, and decent battery life.

The bad: The Motorola Slvr L7c for Verizon has a low-grade VGA camera and lacks stereo Bluetooth. The phone's EV-DO performance was a tad slow and call quality was shaky on our end.

The bottom line: The Motorola Slvr L7c for Verizon undoubtedly offers style, but missing features and uneven performance hold it down.
