>> Hi, I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're going to take a first look at the Motorola Rizr. This is another slim designed phone from Motorola. I can honestly say that out of all the Motorola slim phones I've seen, that includes the Razr and the Crazr, this is hands down the most attractive handset I've seen. You might be wondering why they call it the Rizr. I didn't think the Crazr made any sense for that name, but it looks like they call it the Rizr because it just rises up like that. It is a slider phone, one of Motorola's first entry into that space. Slider phones are very trendy right now as are thin phones. And Motorola does a good job of combining the two. Really like the overall design, also comes with a thumb grip right here, you can see it right there, which lets you grab it just like that and like that, so you don't have to go all the way up with your finger to the top of the phone. Really, like the display here. It is a 262000 color display, which is an improvement over the Crazr. You can see it makes a huge difference, makes colors a lot more vibrant, makes text a lot easier to read, graphics and photos look a lot better. A lot of improvements to the navigation array as well, because it's on the exterior on the phone and it's not crammed behind the front flap as it would on a flip phone. Motorola can actually raise this toggle just a little bit above the surface of the phone. Makes it a lot easier to grasp. Really like that tactile feeling a little more. It's also a little larger which is nice. The only thing I didn't like on the outside of the phone was that these buttons which includes two soft keys, dedicated web browser, a clear key and the talk and end keys. They're just a tiny bit small. And they were a little slick to the touch. There's not a lot of separation between them. Here on this side you have a voice dialing button, a camera shutter and a mini USB port. Also, here on the back you can see you have the lens for the 2 mega pixel camera, which is an improvement over the Crazr K1Ms, which has the 1 point 3 mega pixel. Also, you have a flash, unfortunately, there's no self portrait mirror though. When you slide up the phone, like most slider phones, it does hide the keypad. Keypad is about what we've seen on a Crazr. It is very flat with the surface of the phone. There's some separation between the keys, which it a bit easier to dial by feel. Also, you have a little border here on the side, which definitely keeps your finger from wandering around too much. Inside you'll find a good assortment of midrange features such as Bluetooth, a speaker phone, PC synching, email. Kind of everything you'd expect from the Crazr or Razr and now Rizr models. Overall, though, it's just much more attractive than anything else we've seen in that family. Call quality is pretty good as well. Wasn't impressive with image quality so much or with the speaker phone. But it's a very decent phone if you're really into that slim thing. It is a GSM phone. It's not available with a carrier at the moment, but you can get it unlocked. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola Rizr. ^M00:02:21 [ Music ]

Motorola Rizr Z3 - blue (T-Mobile) Review
The good: The Motorola Rizr Z3 has a striking design with a great display and navigation controls. It also offers decent call quality and a pleasing feature set.
The bad: The Motorola Rizr Z3 has shaky speakerphone quality, and the camera didn't take the best pictures. Also, the microSD card slot is in an inconvenient location.
The bottom line: Motorola does a slim slider phone well with the attractive and well-performing GSM Rizr Z3.
