>> Hi, I'm Kent German senior editor at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Motorola RAZR 2 V9M. This is one of the brand new RAZR 2 versions. This is the V9M so it's a CDMA version. And this particular phone is for Sprint. It's based on the Econic [Assumed spelling] RAZR design. You can see it looks a little different its a little thinner, a little more streamlined. The hinge has been reworked a little bit, seems a little bigger but it actually just a tiny bit smaller. And the double chin, as they called it on the RAZR where the antenna was is actually slimmed down, antenna's still there but it doesn't have that lip that comes up. so, definitely a lot more streamline design, a little thinner as well, you didn't think that was possible in the RAZR but it definitely is. On the outside, we can see the external display is really bright, really vivid, and really big. It does have touch screen controls, has a button for the Sprint TV, sprint music and a camera and actually these buttons do provide tactile feedback. So, if you press them, feel a little bit of a vibrating buzz, really into that tactile feedback I like that a lot. You can get Sprint TV on the external display. You can use the external display as a camera. So, almost like an internal display, almost as big, definitely new there. Inside the phone, see that the internal display is pretty nice. It does have Sprint's personalized interface, which isn't too bad, a little better than Motorola's interface and a lot better than Verizon's definitely. Moving down to the navigation controls, these have been reworked just a bit. The navigation controls are about the same you have a circular toggle, okay button in the center, couple of soft keys, speakerphone, back keys, talk and end keys. A little bit definition on the keys, you can see there's a tiny ridge between the individual rows. Still a little slick still just a little slippery, not much to say else about the phone on the exterior it does have an I crest D slot but it is located behind the batter cover. Not typically a fan of that, but we do like that you don't have to take the battery out as well so you can see it right there. features on the phone, it has high speed E video, broadband connections so you can get all those Sprint broadband multimedia options, high speed browsing. It has a 2 mega pixel camera, Blue Tooth, including stereo Blue Tooth which is a plus, and all the features you would expect from a multimedia phone including Sprint music, Sprint TV, Sprint power vision, just about everything. Overall, though, pretty stylish pretty slick, getting a little sick of the RAZR but this is definitely an improvement. I'm Kent German this is the Motorola 2 V9M for Sprint. ^M00:02:09

Motorola Razr2 V9m (Sprint) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Motorola Razr2 V9m offers an updated, sexy design that features user-friendly controls with vibrating tactile feedback. The feature set is generous, and its performance is admirable.

The bad: The Motorola Razr2 V9m is saddled with a low-resolution internal display and poor streaming-video quality.

The bottom line: In a Razr-weary world, the Motorola Razr2 V9m surpassed our expectations by offering a fresh and dynamic new approach to the Razr line. Video performance was below par but the phone succeeded on other fronts.
