Motorola Razr VE20 Video Transcript

>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor for CNET.com. Today we're take a first look at the Motorola Razr VE20; this is a new phone for Sprint. It does look more like the original Razr than the, than the Razr 2 that we saw last year. The other Razr was very boxy and pretty angular, so this just has a little bit of a sleeker feel to it. On the front you'll see there the smeared finish, but it also is extremely fingerprint prone. And also it does reflect the light so well that sometimes we're out in the sun and it's just shining it just right, it was almost blinding, so want to be careful of that. The original Razr, of course, had that tiny external display. This is a little better. It is full color. It is 65,000 colors, and pretty big, pretty vibrant. Also has those onscreen haptics controls that we saw on the Razr 2. Keypad buttons are also relatively spacious; they are brightly backlit. But the thing you want to watch for is this; white numbers do blend in with the silver background or the display. So if we're out in the sun or really bright light it was hard to see. The phone has a pretty good selection of features, the stereo bluetooth, organizer features, voice dialing, speaker phone. It does have a lot of GPS functions. Also there does have a Sprint TV, so you can go in and watch a lot of TV channels. And this is one of the phones that Sprint is really marketing toward its NFL Mobile service. Music player is also in their Sprint music store. Thought the music quality and the video quality were pretty good. A lot better than I've seen on some recent Sprint phones. So if you're looking for a multimedia option, this isn't a bad buy. Call quality was pretty decent. Slight, slight fuzzy sound to the call quality, almost like our subjects were a little breathy, but not too bad over all. So a pretty decent phone even with the retro styling, it doesn't bring a lot new to the table. But as Motorola's done lately, it's pretty reliable and a solid phone. I'm Kent German, and this is the Motorola Razr VE20. ^E00:01:44

Motorola Razr VE20 - silver (Sprint) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Motorola Razr VE20 has a satisfying multimedia feature set, brilliant displays, and decent call quality. It also has excellent music and video quality.

The bad: The Motorola Razr VE20's memory card is located behind the battery. The mirrored face is a fingerprint magnet and the keys are flush.

The bottom line: Yes, it is another Razr, but the Motorola Razr VE20 is solid and reliable phone in its own right. If you're searching for a satisfying Sprint multimedia phone, it's worth a look.
