>> I'm Rich DeMuro with CNET.com at the Motorola Mobile Experience in New York City where they've announced the successor to the Razor, the Razor 2, aptly named. So check it out. First off you have a bright 2 inch screen on the outside, nice case. It's 2 millimeters thinner than the original Razor, but you do notice it is a little longer and a little wider. But it's got a nice finish on it. They say they've made it pretty durable, scratch resistant and they tested it, opening and closing it 100,000 times. So it should hold up. So when you flip it open, inside there's actually gonna be 3 versions of this phone. There's gonna be a GSM version, there's gonna be a CDMA version and also a 3G version. So pretty much everyone in the world will be covered and that's what they want. A couple of features they've added to this phone is high speed USB 2.0 so you can download your music to this phone quickly, with no software involved. It also has a talking feature so it'll read your text messages to you and they've added a feature called Hapdicks [assumed spelling] which a lot of times when you have these nice, slim, smooth finishes, you don't get that tactile response from touch keys. Well these when you touch them, you feel a little vibration there. So you know that you've touched the play button or the pause button or the forward button. So that's a really nice little feature they've added on this one. It also has support for your corporate email, full HTML browser, it's running Linux and Java in some versions, some new camera and video functionality they've built into the Razor 2, a feature called multi-shot where you can take 4, 6 or 8 shots just by clicking the button once and it'll take them in succession and then a thing called see what I see. So when you're on a phone call with someone, you can actually open the phone, initiate the video conferencing basically and talk to them on speaker phone while you show them what you're seeing on the video cameras. There are a lot of phones with this form factor out on the market now because of the Razor, but Motorola has done a really good job with the Razor 2 to keep it interesting, keep it fresh and the form factor, you can't really beat it and the style, definitely gonna be very cool. So this is dark pro gray. They're also gonna have a mahogany at launch in the summer, so you won't have to wait very long to get this and of course I'm sure they'll have a million other colors down the pipeline later on. Motorola Razr2 V9m (Sprint) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Motorola Razr2 V9m offers an updated, sexy design that features user-friendly controls with vibrating tactile feedback. The feature set is generous, and its performance is admirable.

The bad: The Motorola Razr2 V9m is saddled with a low-resolution internal display and poor streaming-video quality.

The bottom line: In a Razr-weary world, the Motorola Razr2 V9m surpassed our expectations by offering a fresh and dynamic new approach to the Razr line. Video performance was below par but the phone succeeded on other fronts.
