>> Hi this is Bonnie Cha, senior editor at CNET.com and today we are taking a first look at the Motorola Q9M. This is finally the follow-up to the Motorola Q. and they have gone kind of more consumer with this device. At first I will just talk about the design changes, as you can see it is black and it has this nice red accents, it's pretty hot, I like it. The screen size is pretty much the same but they have added an adaptive technology, it will adjust the backlighting depending on what kind of environment. They've reworked the keyboard as well, it's really excellent for typing, nice large keys, and it's not slippery so you shouldn't have too many problems typing e-mails or text messages on this device. There is a 1.3 mega pixel camera on the back, I'm a little disappointed they didn't upgrade it, photo quality wasn't the greatest, the colors were really dull, so something to be aware of, inside its running Windows mobile six and [inaudible] and Bluetooth, no WiFi. It is compatible with Verizon's V cast music service; they are really pushing the multimedia on this. So even download songs over the air, it's a little expensive at 1.99 per track but you do have that capability. It also has push e-mail and actually Motorola decided to go with documents to go for their editing application, so you'll be able to create word excel documents. Overall the device is a little slow so it is not going to be for the power user, I would say consumers will be okay with this, it has good call quality and a good speakerphone. The Nokia E61i isn't a major upgrade, bringing some minor design improvements and the addition of a camera, but it still remains a powerful smart phone for business users; just be prepared to pay a price.
The Palm Treo 755p is a smart phone that offers a nice combination of enhancements and solid performance to make it an attractive upgrade, though it's not a major overhaul.

Verizon Wireless' Motorola Razr2 V9m is a sexy phone with stunning call quality, but on the whole it can't quite match up to Sprint's comparable model.
Motorola's smart-looking update of its entry-level camera phone packs in plenty of features but suffers from some glaring design flaws.
With the exception of a couple of design flaws, the sexy slider Nokia E65 is a good voice-centric Symbian smart phone that also offers various wireless options and productivity tools.
The Motorola W755's design looks way too familiar but its solid feature set, ergonomic controls, and enjoyable call and video quality make it a reliable Verizon Wireless handset.

The good: The Motorola Q9m boasts an attractive design with an excellent full QWERTY keyboard. The smart phone now runs Windows Mobile 6, has integrated Bluetooth with A2DP support as well as EV-DO, and works with Verizon's V Cast Music Store. It offers clear call quality and solid multimedia performance.
The bad: The Q9m's performance can be sluggish at times, and it lacks integrated Wi-Fi. We also wish Motorola had upgraded the camera to a 2-megapixel shooter, and there's no support for V Cast videos at this time. The smart phone is slightly bigger and heavier, and the screen holds a lot of smudges and fingerprints. Windows Live and Live Messenger are stripped out of the smart phone.
The bottom line: The Motorola Q9m brings some nice design and operating system upgrades as well as a more consumer-focused experience with enhanced multimedia capabilities. However, behind all the sexy packaging, the smart phone still feels underpowered. Business users should look elsewhere for a smart phone.
