>> Hi. This is Bonnie Cha, Senior editor at cnet.com and today we're taking a first look at the Motorola Q9c for Sprint. This is an upgrade for their Motorola Q and it brings some nice editions, as well as a couple of things that I don't like about it. I'll start with the design, I do like the black antenna silver chrome finish here, adds a nice sleek look to it and it also ships with an extended battery, which is great, but it kind of gives the phone a little bubble butt, so it's really bulky, it's not gonna easily fit in to a pants pocket or anything like that. Also, the cord or keyboard, I like that it has nice spacious keys, but they're a bit stiff to press and don't have a really good tactile feedback, so it's a little difficult to message. Inside, it's running Windows Mobile 6 standard edition, and you get push email, as well as instant messaging, which is nice. Also, it has a 1.3 megapixel camera on the back, I wish they upgraded it to 2 megapixel, but I'll take what I can get. Also, has Bluetooth, as well as GPS, so you can use this as a handheld navigator with a service like Sprint Navigation. Overall call quality was pretty good, but the speakerphone quality was a little bit on the weak side, but I would say the [inaudible] especially at a price at $149.99 with a two-year contract, so, it's a nice upgrade. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been the Sprint Motorola Q9c. ^M00:01:20 [ Music ]

Motorola Q9c (Sprint) Review
Editors' rating
Good

The good: The Motorola Q9c offers a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade as well as GPS, Bluetooth, and EV-DO support. The smartphone also has a 1.3-megapixel camera; decent call quality; and solid messaging capabilities.

The bad: The extended battery adds an awkward and bulky bump to the back of the smartphone, and the keyboard is a bit stiff. The speakerphone produced some feedback, and performance can sometimes be sluggish.

The bottom line: Some design quirks aside, the Motorola Q9c for Sprint is a worthy upgrade to the original Q, adding GPS and more stable performance, among other things.
