I'm Nicole Lee, senior associate editor for CNET.com and this is a fist look at the Motorola PHOTON 4G for Sprint Nextel. As you can see here the PHOTON 4G is a rather large and imposing handset. It has cut up corners on the side here and a soft touch finish on the back. On the front is a large and very generously size 4.1-inch qHD display. It's very crisp and sharp as you can see here. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera and dual LED flash. The phone can play back up to 1080p video, but it can only record 720p video. The PHOTON 4G shoots at Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and Motoblur overlay. Because the PHOTON 4G is for Sprint. The PHOTON 4G is also compatible with sprint ID. If you want, you can even select 4 a very clean and minimal Sprint ID pack. On the back of the phone, on the very bottom is also a pop out kickstand. The kickstand allows for hand-free video viewing. You can also use the phone in desk clock mode or weather station mode. One of the key features of the PHOTON 4G is that it has NVIDIA one GHz Dual Core Tegra 2 processor that means zipping around on the phone. The phone comes with a slew different apps including the usual G-Mail, Google Talk and sort forth. You also get a few of Sprints free installed apps on here like Nascar and Sprint TV. Like the Atrix 4G, the PHOTON 4G has a Web Top application. This means that if you dock it to a desktop accessory like this one, you can just hook it up to a display, a mouse, and a keyboard and turn it in a PC. The only caveat is the desktop dock cost around $129. Other call features of the PHOTON 4G include a front facing VGA camera. It also has a pretty cool music player on here. The custom Motorola music player also includes podcast integration and the ability to access internet, radio, and FM radio. The Motorola PHOTON 4G is available for $199.99 with a new 2-year service agreement with Sprint Nextel. I'm Nicole Lee and this is a fist look at the Motorola PHOTON 4G for Sprint Nextel.

Motorola Photon 4G (Sprint) Review
The good: The Motorola Photon 4G is an absolute powerhouse of a phone. It ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 4G WiMax speeds, a 4.3-inch qHD display, and a dual-mode GSM/CDMA chipset. Features include HDMI-out, DLNA support, Wi-Fi, Mobile Hotspot for up to eight devices, 720p HD video capture, 1080p HD video playback, and secure data encryption. We also like the kickstand. Call quality and overall performance were great.
The bad: The Motorola Photon 4G has a large and bulky design, which might not be to everybody's taste. The Motoblur interface isn't for everyone, and we found Sprint ID to be an unnecessary add-on. The Webtop dock functionality is pretty cool, but it requires a $129 accessory. We expected better photo quality out of the 8-megapixel camera.
The bottom line: With a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 4G speeds, enterprise-level security, and world phone credentials, the Motorola Photon 4G is a top-notch Android phone for Sprint customers.
