>> [Nicole Lee:] I'm Nicole Lee, associate editor for CNET.com, and this is a first look at the Motorola Karma QA1 from AT and T. As you can see here, the Motorola Karma QA1 is a square little messenger phone, similar in style to the Cricket text mate, but it is a bit more solidly constructed. The 2.5-inch display here is made of glass, which gives the phone a nice, solid feel. The back of the phone has a rubbery groove texture, so it feels really good in the hand as well. Along the bottom of the home screen is the launch bar, which you can customize with any shortcut to an application or a browser bookmark, for example. The phone comes with quick access shortcuts to Facebook, MySpace and JuiceCaster, which is a social broadcasting tool for Facebook, Twitter, and so forth. These are not actual applications, per se, though. They're more like quick access shortcuts to the site's mobile page. The display itself is very bright and colorful, and we really like the main menu interface. Underneath the display is a navigation array. On the side here you do get a smart key which you can customize with any application shortcut. Slide open the phone, and you get a very nice and neat QWERTY keyboard with textured keys that raise above the surface of the phone. The number keys are highlighted in blue, and there are special keys for symbols or punctuation as well as a caps lock key. The Karma QA1 has plenty of features. It has quad band support as well as 3G. There's a full HTML browser with FlashLite support. You can also get access to AT and T's broadband services like cellular video streaming. You also get AT and T mobile music with Napster e-music downloads, a 2.0 megapixel camera lens on the back here with a flash LED as well as [inaudible] Bluetooth and messaging features galore with instant messaging, [inaudible] text messaging compensations and so forth. The Motorola Karma QA1 is a messaging phone with an edge thanks to all of these advanced features. It is 79 dollars, 99 cents with a two-year service agreement with AT and T. My name is Nicole Lee; this has been a first look at the Motorola Karma QA1. ^M00:02:06 [ MUSIC ]

The fifth full-length Nettwerk release from Vancouver-based duo Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber, Nuages Du Monde (Clouds of the World) continues the evolution of Delerium from creators of predominantly instrumental filmic soundscapes to a fully-fledged vocal group. Featuring an array of renowned singers, Nuages Du Monde neatly combines the more overtly commercial pop of previous album Chimera (2003) with the lush sensual ambience and cloistered harmonies of 1997?s Karma, a meld that bridges the gap between world music, new age electronics and modern classical.

Motorola Karma QA1 (AT&T) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Motorola Karma QA1 has a great keyboard and a wide array of features like 3G speeds, a full HTML browser with Flash Lite support, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, and more. We also like the 3.5-millimeter headset jack, the quick access to Facebook and other social networks, and the excellent call quality.

The bad: The Motorola Karma QA1's photo quality could be improved and we weren't pleased with the streaming video quality.

The bottom line: The Motorola Karma QA1 belies its cute appearance with high-end features that put it above just an ordinary messaging phone.
