>> Kent: Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Motorola I9; this is a phone available both for Nextel and for Boost Mobile. As you'll notice it looks a lot like the Razer. A couple things interesting is the external display is actually the same size, same color resolution and same pixel resolution as the internal display. You can actually use this display on the outside to pretty much go through the entire menu system on the phone, they don't actually show up on the display itself they'll show in this mirrored frame that surrounds it and you turn the phone on the horizontal mode and more player controls appear down here. It is a Push to Talk phone, of course, Nextel and Boost Mobile both use Push to Talk services you'll see a Push to Talk button right here; this button will activate the menu system on the external display. Camera lens is on the back didn't really like that area and for a couple reasons one is 'cause I was constantly trying to put my finger there, felt that they could usually move that to the front we've seen that on most Razer phones, really would prefer it there. There's a 3.1 megapixel camera I really wasn't impressed with the photo quality though I found the photos to be a little grainy, colors not to be very sharp so definitely not a phone that I would consider if you really want a good camera phone even though it is 3.1 megapixel. Inside like I said you'll see that the internal display is the same size, same resolution as the external display the only difference is for a user the controls that you use. Controls for this phone they were flat they are pretty slippery but they really don't make that much of a tactile definition so if you're using this if you want to dial by feel this probably isn't the phone for you, just not the best experience. Many systems are pretty to understand I just don't like it that when you're in a submenu so you go to the main menu page and then you click something like multimedia or settings and then you if you back out of that menu it will back you out of the menus completely instead of just going back to the main menu page. It does have a music player a pretty simple, has stereo Bluetooth, has organizer features, speaker phone, voice dialing, so pretty midrange features in that way. But really, I think, the highlight of this phone, of course, is that Push to Talk and overall it is a stylish phone even though it uses a design that is getting pretty old but it does have respectable feature set. Sound quality was pretty good what you'd expect from Nextel it didn't actually test it on Boost's system but like I said Boost's system uses Nextel so you're gonna be about the same. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola I9. ^M00:02:18 [ Music ]
