>> Kent German: Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we'll take a first look at the Motorola I570. This is a new phone for Nextel service. Sprint's been a little weird the past couple of years. They did say that when they took over Nextel that they were going to do away with their IDEN or Nextel's IDEN, but they seem to be going back on that promise just a little bit. Not really sure what's going on with them but this is definitely a Nextel phone through and through. Everything you'd expect from a Nextel phone. Really solid, really durable. Easy to use and real sort of basic features they gear towards the push to talk functionality, GPS and other things like that. It is plastic on the front and the back. But we have this rubberized side and top and the bottom here. This is even weirder, you probably haven't seen. It's been a long time since we've seen one of these. We have an extendable antenna so you don't see those at all anymore. Here we have an external display. It's pretty small, just rectangular, monochrome. We are used to that with Nextel phones so shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Kind of packs all the information you need but it's a little small so if you have visual impairments you might want to give the phone a little of a test drive first. Here on the side is the push to talk button, of course, really accessible and there's a volume rocker and here on the top there is a speaker phone button and a button for placing calls when the phone is closed. Speakers here on the back and of course the charger cord and the headset jack are protected by a rubber flap. As in most Nextel phones, it does meet military specifications against dust, rain, and wind or something like that. So it really can handle a lot. Inside the phone you'll see an internal display. It is colorful, kind of small but we're used to that, again, from Nextel. Not the highest resolution there is 64,000 colors. Still not a fan of those Nextel menus because of the fact that you have to go to multiple pages just by pressing the more button. Like the navigation control in the middle, it's round, silver rounded so it's easy to press. Easy to get there and move your finger around. And the rubberized texture covers a lot of them so it makes them easy to press. And the keypad buttons they are raised just a little above the surface and they are separated so we had no problem texting or dialing numbers quickly or anything like that. There is no blue tooth but it does have voice dialing. Also supports Nextel's dual line service and of course all the push talk features with the integrated GPS ability as well. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola I570. ^M00:02:03 [ music ]
