Hi. This is Brian Bennett for CNET.com. And today, we??re taking a first look at the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD for Verizon Wireless. This greatly anticipated phone is now available for 299.99. That??s certainly a lot to pay for a mobile device. But you do get a lot of smart phone for the money. The Droid Razr Maxx HD sits at the top of Motorola??s lineup for 2012. Above both the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr M. Essentially, it??s a souped-up version of the previous Droid Razr Maxx, powered by a modem 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 GB of RAM, the Maxx HD packs a performance punch. The biggest improvement though is the Maxx HD??s massive 4.7-inch AMOLED screen. At 720p it??s not only larger it also offers a much higher pixel count that the previous Maxx display. The Maxx HD also comes equipped with the same legendary 3300 mil amp battery which helped the first Droid Razr Maxx turned into longest battery life we??ve ever seen in a smartphone. Hopefully, the Maxx HD can live up to this example. The Razr Maxx HD also supports a more premium look with a metal band running around its edges and attractive silver buttons. On the right are controls for volume and power, while the left side holds HDMI and micro USB ports. There??s also a slot here too for micro SD and mini SIM cards. On back is Motorola??s signature Kevlar fiber coating, meant to protect against scrapes and scratches. Other features include an 8 megapixel main camera that comes with lots of settings and shooting modes, NFC and 4G LTE data. One let down though is that the Maxx HD runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which is one step down from the most recent version Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Even so, the phone has a nice user interface. I love the circles widget that provides useful information like alerts, time, weather and battery level all in a fancy and fun interface. Swiping left of the main home screen pulls up a useful quick settings page 2, that has ways to toggle off and use functions like ring tone, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and airplane mode.
