>> Hey, it's Justin Yu for CNET.com and this is a First Look at the Moshi Celesta Keyboard. Now it's meant to be a replacement keyboard for your Mac and as you can see, it has all of Mac's unique button placement across the bottom. Now we definitely applaud Moshi for the overall design of the Celesta. It's streamlined surface, flat keys and low profile awarded one of the most attractive peripherals we've seen. Even the box it comes and fold out all sleek. The experience is similar to the unboxing of an Apple product. Now they offer two different colors. A black version with a red LED up top and a white version with blue LED. Now the keys themselves are angled forward with a narrower traveler distance than a typical desktop keyboard. Typing on, it actually feels more like a laptop keyboard, which takes some getting used to, but ends up being fairly comfortable in the end. Now we're also surprised to see a small change in the standard key layout. The dedicated Volume and Eject buttons are placed between the directional arrows and the Delete key instead of in their normal home directly above the numerical keypad. Now even after using the keyboard for several days, we still found ourselves hitting the wrong keys and the whole area feels really cramped. Now there are two USB 2.0 ports on the side and a mirrored border up top that lights up, but we don't like the aluminum that surrounds the keys. The thin borders on the lines that make up the wrist rest area feel awkward to the touch and attracted dust like crazy despite our constant efforts to keep it clean. Now the last complain we have is with the price. At the time of this review, Moshi sells the Celesta keyboard for 120 bones, which is $70 more than Apple's stock keyboard and about the same price as Logitech's Editors' Choice winning keyboard and mouse combination. Needless to say, we found ourselves wishing for a backlit underneath the keys, wireless Bluetooth, designated game buttons -- anything to justify the lofty price tag.
