Emma Pollock was a founder member of The Delgados, one of the most interesting and influential bands to emerge from the mid-90s Glasgow music scene. Not only did they make a string of questing, ambitious albums, often working with Flaming Lips / Mercury Rev producer Dave Fridmann, but The Delgados also founded the pioneering - and still highly active - Chemikal Underground record label, launching the careers of Mogwai, Arab Strap, Bis and many more.

New Sub Pop roster addition Kinski is a (mostly...) instrumental rock quartet from Seattle. By turns melodic, swelling, roaring, propulsive, and sparse, Kinski walks the margins of avant-rock (ref. High Rise, Sonic Youth, Bardo Pond, Mogwai, GYBE) with nods to Krautrock and a penchant for noisy psychedelia. Airs Above Your Station is Kinski's third full-length (after the self-released Space Launch for Frenchie and 2001's stunning Be Gentle with the Warm Turtle on Pacifico Recordings).
An escalating drum roll opens Our Ill Wills, the sophomore album from Shout Out Louds… and rightly so. It's been a few years since the release of their first full-length record, the critically acclaimed, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, and anticipation is great. But the band's been anything but idle. These last years have seen their passports fill up with stamps and their photo albums with snap shots from all corners of the world. They've done their own headline tours as well as being the support act of choice for bands such as The Strokes, The Magic Numbers and Kings Of Leon. Being on the road means you have plenty of time to think, to drink, to reminisce on the past. To play computer games. To miss loved ones. To get lost in new towns. To misbehave and to get your priorities in order. It's all there, on Our Ill Wills, out September 11th on Merge Records. Well, maybe not the computer games so much.
