>> Bonnie Cha: Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at www.cnet.com.
>>And today we're taking a first look at the T-mobile sidekick LX. This is one of two new sidekicks for the carrier. This one is the follow-up to a sidekick three and goes kind of more the traditional route with the flip up screen here. So they did a lot to the design, it's thinner, and it's also about an ounce lighter, so it's really nice. Also, much to my delight, they've improved the screen. It's larger, and it's much, much better, it displays about 65 thousand colors, so it doesn't look like you're looking at an arcade computer anymore. On the inside, you've got the same, full QWERTY keyboard, it's really easy to use, and spacious, so it's great for messaging, which is what the sidekick's really good at. On the back you've got a 1.3-megapixel camera, you've also got this text [inaudible] surface, so it's easier to grip. They did add Myspace mobile app, so that's great for the younger audience it's going after. But for about 300 dollars, with a two-year contract, I would have wanted more out of the device, so you might also want to check out the Helio Ocean. I'm Bonnie Cha.

T-Mobile Sidekick LX - espresso brown Review
The good: The T-Mobile Sidekick LX boasts a sleeker design with a larger and much-improved display. The handheld continues to be an excellent messaging device with a spacious full QWERTY keyboard. It also offers Bluetooth, MySpace Mobile integration, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. The software also brings video recording and playback and stereo Bluetooth support.
The bad: The Sidekick LX lacks integrated Wi-Fi. The phone's speaker is on the weaker side.
The bottom line: The T-Mobile Sidekick LX will continue to attract a legion of young fans with its fresh design and excellent messaging capabilities. We like the improved display, and the software update brings some much-needed additions to the features department.
