>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, senior editor for CNET.com and I'm standing next to Mitsubishi's 65 inch WD65831. This is a company who's top of the line, rear projection TV. One of the things I really like about the set though is that around the edge here, there's really very little wasted space. It's pretty much all picture as you can see. It's just a little strip of black on the sides and on the top and of course in the bottom here, you've got room for the speaker and right below there's a little area including buttons and some media card slot readers. This TV uses DLP technology. It's a 1080P display. Those are two high end formats, the 1080P is the highest resolution available now with rear projection TVs to get a nice sharp picture. And the set has the ability to control a lot of another AV gear in your system. It actually comes with these IR blasters. You plug into the back and you plug the IR blasters so they actually aim at your equipment. There's also a pair of controls that really affect the color of the picture. One is called perfect color, another called perfect tint allow you to really fine tune the picture quality in terms of color. Of course there's a range of other picture adjustments available on this set and the bulb is actually a lot more powerful than previous DLPs, so it can get really bright. So again Mitsubishi put everything they could into this television. On the back panel of this TV you'll find plenty of connectivity including three component video inputs, two HDMI inputs, a DVR input for connecting a PC digitally, a cable card slot as well as two fire wire ports. When we took this TV into the lab, we were generally impressed by its picture quality. It actually produced some of the deepest blacks we've seen this year on rear projection TVs. Also excellent sharpness on the picture and very good uniformity for a rear projection television. Color wasn't quite as accurate as we'd like to see out of the box. It definitely had some issues. We were able to adjust the color quite a bit using the perfect color and perfect tint controls that I mentioned before. But even after that the color wasn't perfect. Anyway that's a quick look at the Mitsubishi WD65831 and I'm David Katzmaier.
