>> Hi this is Rafe Needleman [assumed spelling] from webware.com. Ever have a song stuck in your head, driving you nuts because you couldn't name it? Two online service, Nile Humming Search [assumed spelling], which I covered back in December on Webware, and Midomi [assumed spelling], which is new, lets you hum a song into your computer and try to identify it for you. Now I couldn't carry a tune if it had handles on it, but these services say that doesn't matter, that they identify the song based on the rhythm, the contour of the tone, and basically they should be able to do what any four year old can do. Nile Humming Search doesn't work so well, it didn't work so well back in December. Let's see if it's gotten any better. I'm gonna hum a very, very popular old song into it and see if it works. ^M00:00:40 [ humming ] ^M00:00:47 And I hit the search button here, and let's see if it picked up Yellow Submarine. Sadly, no. Nile Humming Search hasn't improved, so not so hot. Let's try the new service, Midomi. And I'm gonna try a song that I'm just having a hard time placing. I, I actually don't, I just heard it today, and I'm not so sure. ^M00:01:07 [ humming ] ^M00:01:14 Wonderwall, that's it. Wonderwall by Oasis, and it has it right here. Not only that, but it has other people singing the song. [ background music ] There you go. That's pretty cool. And you can buy the track right here from Midomi. [ background music ] I also tried this with Yellow, Yellow Submarine and it worked fine, so if you've got something stuck in your head and you've got to get it out, go to Midomi.com and give it a shot. And for more cool online applications, try Webware.com. This is Rafe Needleman from Webware. ^M00:01:41 [ music ]
